But most archaeologists believe that the Colosseum was made in the year 70-82 AD Originally Colosseum name comes from a statue 130 feet or 40 m are called Colossus. Colosseum is set to accommodate 50,000 spectators. Building Construction

Reconstruction of the Colosseum started from the command of King Vespasian in 72 AD and completed by his son Titus in 80 AD Colosseum established close to Nero's enermous Palace, Domus Aurea that had been built in after the great fire in Rome in AD 64 Some historians believe that construction of the Colosseum was financed by way of robbing a big temple in Jerusalem by order of King Herod in AD 64

Dio Cassius a historian said that there are about 9000 wild animals who have been killed in 100 days as a celebration of the inauguration and opening of the Colosseum. The floor of the Colosseum arena was covered by sand to prevent blood-the blood does not flow anywhere.

In the Colosseum at the time was venue for a spectacular show, which is a fight between animals (venetaiones), the fight between prisoners and animals, the execution of prisoners (noxii), water fight (naumachiae) by flooding the arena, and the battle between gladiators (munera .) For hundreds of years, the estimated thousands of people and animals die in the Colosseum show.

The name of the Colosseum as in the above is taken from t
he name of a statue 130 feet or 40 m, Colossus. Colossus Statue remade as a substitute for Nero as the parable of the Sol, the sun god, by adding the crown of the sun. In the mid-year, Colossus statue has disappeared. An expert said that since the statue was made of copper, the statue has been merged for reuse.

In addition to named Colossus, the Colosseum is also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre is not known who gave the name. In Italy, the Colosseum was named il colosseo but other Roman languages use the name Le Colisée and el coliseo to mention the Colosseum.

Colosseum is large enough. With a height of 48 m, length 188 m, 156 m wide and the area around the building about 2.5 ha to make the Colosseum looks so big and spacious. Wooden arena measuring 86 mx 54 m, and covered by sand. Elliptical or sph
erical shape of the Colosseum point to prevent the players to flee to the corner and prevents the audience to be closer to the show.

Colosseum is a very great work. The place is said to be a great and spectacular stage due to the shape and structure of the Colosseum. Even now, the Colosseum is still said to be a great stadium and spectacular. Seating in the Colosseum are divided into different levels.

Podium, the first place to sit is devoted to the Roman senators. Special room for the king, resting place, where the property is also on this level. Under the podium is maeniaum Primum, which is devoted to the Roman nobility. The third level is maenianum Primum which is divided again into three parts. Bottom (immum) was used for the wealthy, at the top
again (summum), used for the commoners. And finally, in the wood (maenianum secundum in legneis) is where the structure of wood at the top of the building. That place is a place that used to stand for women inferior.

After 2 years of the Colosseum used as a venue, the youngest daughter of Vespasian ordered to construct an underground area (Hypogeum), two levels of underground lines that are interconnected in the form of tunnels and cages where gladiators and animals are placed before the fight begins. There is also provided the pitfalls of a trap door that is used to prevent entry of wild animals are not planned into the arena and to keep the weapons storage area in the Colosseum.

Colosseum is still in use until the year 217, although it has been damaged by fire due to being struck by lightning. Colosseum has been improved in the year 238 and gladiatorial games continued until Christian people gradually stop the game because it

Pompeii

You probably heard the name of Pompeii will associate with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius event centuries ago. Pompeii is an old town in southern Italy that used to be the pride of the Romans because of the beautiful natural scenery and fertile soil. Moreover, geographically close enough to Naples Pompeii and Capri Isles, two coastal cities are always shrouded in sunshine and warm air throughout the year.

The beauty of the city was also supported by the presence of Mount Vesuvius towering 1281 feet above sea level. Local tourists who come from various parts of the city in Italy is also abundant, because in summer they prefer a vacation to the beach. With air temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius at the time, people flocked to bathe in the sea or discolor the skin under the hot sun.

Before buried for thousands of years by the explosion of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii is a popular tourist destination city of the Roman nobility and conglomerates, especially in the summer. Pompeii was also the city a safe harbor for sailors of Greece and Tunisia. Civilization Etruscan nation's mix of culture and cultural elements to make the city the Greeks were greatly expanded, especially after the city was a Roman colony in 80 BC.

In the reign of Octavian August
us (27 BC-14 AD), Pompeii suffered a massive infrastructural development. Various imposing building is built like an amphitheater, pallaestra (the stadium where he did various kinds of sports activities) with a large swimming pool, reservoir water to more than 25 of the fountain, at least four public baths, office buildings, and houses personal.

In addition to magnificent buildings, the city also has the brothels, taverns, and nightclubs where the residents spent the time to have fun and make transactions prostitution. In fact it is said, artificial genitals in its original size hanged in front of these brothels.

Pompeii is famous in those days with the freedom of the inhabitants in matters relating to sexual activity. Therefore, when Mount Vesuvius erupted, many people who are caught in the act of intercourse in the town and died instantly. For thousands of years, the bodies were buried in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius material and petrified.

Actually, the population of Pompeii was used to earthquakes - in a smaller scale that often occurs in the Campania region of southern Italian region that includes Naples and surrounding areas, including the city of Pompeii. However, it had also recorded great earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter on February 5, year 62 AD. Gempat has resulted in considerable damage to roads, temples, bridges and homes.

When Mount Vesuvius er
upted on August 24, the year 79 AD, Pompeii was buried city of smoke and volcanic ash during the 1700 year, and only rediscovered by accident in the year 1748 AD. Yet when the mountain erupted event that happens, the city of Pompeii has not been fully repaired by the quake. As a result of the eruption, 20 thousand residents in the city was killed instantly.

Exploration of the city started on the orders of the King of Naples Charles III of Bourbon. Until now, the area has been excavated is the area of 66 hectares. Pompeii now become one of world heritage sites to be treated by UNESCO. And that makes you wonder merrasab is, once buried for thousands of years, various buildings and relics buried in it are still intact.

Including the residents who were killed and petrified because doused dust, lava, and heat. Proof, we (including me) now can see the fact that in the region once contained a town inhabited by the Romans with palaces, houses and temples are still well maintained.

That said, it was because of dust and rocks thrown from the crater of Mount Vesuvius and buried city of Pompeii meetings led to the absence of the incoming air so that no moisture can also lead to the decomposition process. However, after the site was found and its existence was announced to the public, the event has occurred erosion, excavation, reconstruction, and vandalism. In addition, the incoming air and climate change have made some parts of the old town becomes damaged.

Until now, there are still digging and research activities of mineral substances left over from rocks or soil sediment used by archaeologists who helped local students. The reason is because not all parts of the old city of Pompeii was uncovered, and there are still many unanswered questions of history.
